Execution & Control

Real-time command and control during mission execution.

Overview

Execution & Control encompasses all real-time command activities: controlling UAV fleets, monitoring defense systems, tracking force positions, and coordinating with team members. ENGAGE provides the command interface for managing operations as they unfold.

Workflow: UAV Mission Execution

Step 1: Pre-Flight

  1. Verify aircraft status (green indicators)
  2. Confirm flight plan uploaded
  3. Check weather and airspace
  4. Arm aircraft when ready

Step 2: Launch & Transit

  1. Command takeoff
  2. Monitor telemetry during climb
  3. Verify route adherence
  4. Check signal strength

Step 3: On-Station Operations

  1. Activate sensor/camera
  2. Control gimbal for target area
  3. Mark points of interest
  4. Record video as needed

Step 4: Recovery

  1. Command return to home
  2. Monitor approach
  3. Verify landing area clear
  4. Land and disarm

Workflow: Defense Engagement

Step 1: Detection

  1. Monitor radar coverage displays
  2. Observe new track appearance
  3. Classify track (hostile/unknown)
  4. Assess threat priority

Step 2: Assessment

  1. Review track parameters (speed, altitude)
  2. Calculate time-to-impact
  3. Determine engagement window
  4. Select appropriate weapon system

Step 3: Engagement

  1. Pair weapon to target
  2. Verify engagement parameters
  3. Monitor intercept timeline
  4. Assess battle damage

Step 4: Re-Engagement

  1. Evaluate intercept success
  2. Update track status
  3. Re-engage if necessary
  4. Document outcome

Best Practices

Workload Management

  • Use panel presets for different phases
  • Delegate monitoring across team
  • Set appropriate alert thresholds
  • Focus on priority information

Communication

  • Use integrated chat for coordination
  • Announce major actions
  • Confirm critical commands
  • Log key decisions

Contingency Response

  • Know emergency procedures
  • Practice lost-link scenarios
  • Prepare alternate plans
  • Maintain manual override capability
